NARRATIVES 叙事

The Grand Narrative of the West is Judeo-Christian in ethics; reasoning drawn from the Renaissance, the "Analogy," the “Analysis” from the Enlightenment Age, and the Modern Age legitimating Reason into institutionalized life. Yet in the Postmodern Age, these narratives, the creeds of ethics and reasoning, are "the mask of "goodness" concealing "the powers behind the throne" that practice the vices of unrestrained desire to rule.

Life and its rituals are like a play; a theatre of stories of good and evil; of playwrights and their half-truths written for producers of realties. Narratives are works of persuasion. Most narratives are cynical, fearful and hateful, a few inspirational, and fewer still, rational or ethical in placing the stability of "the village" over ambitions of power. The "tone" of the language reflects authority - legal or social power authoring "scripts" that either stabilize or destabilize society. Theatre, where plays are staged; now actors are played by the alluring voices of digitized tonalities, AI seducing the audience with disinformation to affect thoughts, emotions and [reactive] behaviors.

Modernity sought the virtues of knowledge, not the vices of ignorance; prosperity was to be to the benefit of all. Freud wrote of human nature concocting rationales legitimating irrational desires. Yet despite religious or scientific bodies of knowledge, still society is plagued by psychosis. Trust society and those that seek to control it to be what it is - psychotic - the "rule of the jungle," self-interest over idealism.

The sources of disinformation are authorized authors of authority; narratives, authored on behalf of power, that are intended to "trigger" emotions of the targeted that confirms or negates one's values to the point of delusional belief, disbelief or apathy. The educated, socialized to believe "they know better," and the semiliterate that bear the burdens, are "triggered" by storytellers "fanning" an ideology that engineers confrontations. Rational inquiry questioning corrupted power as a source of instabilities that binds the sociopathic while alienating the ethical, elicits out of balance, irrational, emotional and physical reactions confronting the rational.
